If your vehicle fails, you can still drive it away provided your current certificate is still in date.
There is an appeals procedure that you can follow to contest the decision to fail a vehicle, details are available at test centres and online on https://www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/after-the-test
Most test centres have the capacity to arrange to fix any problems in order to get the vehicle to pass the minimum standard requirements as laid down, in many cases our customers ask us to do a service at the same time, that way you can save money in the event something needs fixing to get through the test.
Many customers want to have their vehicle serviced at the same time as doing the annual MOT test this way we will be able to ensure that your vehicle will be fit to pass the MOT test before we do the test. This would potentially save you the cost of having to pay for a re test.
Many of our customers do this, for more information call in or use the enquiry form to get one of the team to call you back.
According to the Driver Vehicle & Licensing Agency the test will cover checks of the following elements of your vehicle to ensure it meets the minimum standard:
Whilst we have included a lot of what is in the test it is not a fully comprehensive list and also the DVSA may change the test criteria at any time.
